A Sprout and Grow LLC story
Homeschool desks, kitchen tables, and after-school couches. If you are teaching a child at home, you are in the right place.

Angela Hogg with her family ยท Shelbyville, Kentucky
LearningGuides is created and maintained by Angela Hogg, a certified elementary teacher with a Master's in Elementary Education. She taught at Simpsonville Elementary, has substituted for fourteen years, led Sunday School and VBS, and raised three readers of her own in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
After years of advocating for her youngest child's advanced needs in public school, Angela began homeschooling in January 2025. These guides come out of that living room: professional pedagogy, family-tested questions, and the belief that children understand a book more deeply when someone who loves them asks the right thing at the right time.
Teaching is Angela's gift. She loves the moment a child stops reciting a plot and starts explaining why a character made that choice. That is the work these guides are built for.
She taught full-time at Simpsonville Elementary for more than five years and has been a substitute โ full-time and part-time โ for fourteen years. She has taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, tutored families through the years, and homeschool-supplemented each of her three children long before January 2025, when she took full responsibility for her youngest son's education at home.
That last step was not a trend. After three years of advocating for his higher-performing needs in public school, she chose what was best for him. Being a teacher gave her a head start. Being the parent in charge of the whole day is still its own journey โ and it is the reason LearningGuides exists.
This is a place to share that journey, swap ideas, and offer practical help to families who want or need more for their children. Angela is glad to talk shop: lesson ideas, reading advice, and, in time, gatherings for families walking the same road.
Read together. Understand more.
